Smart Money Shouldn't be on Obama

Moneytoburn by Micheal Graham, Boston Herald

“Well, uh, you know, I think that whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or, uh, a scientific perspective, uh, answering that question with specificity, uh, you know, is, is, uh, above my pay grade.” - Sen. Barack Obama, on “When does a baby get human rights?”

In 1948, they had Harry Truman and “The buck stops here!”

In 2008, they’ve got Barack Obama and it’s “above my pay grade.”

This is definitely not your grandfather’s Democratic Party.

Nader predicts Obama to pick Clinton

Hillnader_lgl by John F. Harris, POLITICO

Count Ralph Nader as unimpressed by the crop of supposed finalists to be Barack Obama’s running mate.

“I don’t think he’s that dumb,” said Nader, commenting on widespread speculation that Obama’s choices are down to Sens. Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, or Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine.

The smart pick, according to Nader, is Hillary Rodham Clinton. Nader phoned into Politico Tuesday afternoon to offer his prediction that a surprise nod to Clinton is actually what Obama has in store—never mind the talk of mistrust between the Clintons and Obama.

“He just has to swallow hard and do what JFK did” in picking rival Lyndon Johnson in 1960, said the liberal activist and maverick presidential candidate.

According to Nader’s logic, Obama may dislike Hillary, but will conclude he has no choice but to get over it if he hopes to leave next week’s convention in Denver with a unified party and a decent shot against John McCain in the fall: “The polls show 25 percent of her supporters have not gotten on board.”

“He’s got to be very concerned by the [neck-and-neck] polls and by what happened at Saddleback,” added Nader, referring to the recent candidates forum hosted by evangelist Rick Warren. “He got beat in Saddleback—big time.”

DENVER, HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thefats I am soooo excited.  Alix and I have decided to get off our fat asses and drive to Denver for the convention!  It is 1,064 miles between Austin and Denver(16 hours by car), but we are excited!  How inspiring it will be for us to march with other Hillary supporters in honor of her hard fought campaign.  We are also thrilled to be locked up in a cage like animals as we show our discontent for the party leadership.  I am too involved in this election to sit this round out. I am proud to go and show Hillary my support and speak my mind!

Don't Bring Around a Cloud to Rain on his Parade!

Cloudmtn According to weather.com, there is a 10% chance of precipitation on Obama's own, personal ego-fest next Thursday.

Since the Democrats seem hell-bent on losing this election by putting up Obamalamadingdong as their candidate, there is at least a 50% chance that they will lose.

I have the feeling that there will be a documentary made.  Probably on par with The War Room.  (Except I'm sure he and his coterie of Clinton-haters think that film is passe'.)  Too bad it won't be by Edwards' Leni Riefenstahl lady.

However, I think that were a documentary to be made, it would be Obama's Triumph des Willens.

Perhaps that should just be the subtitle to the entire convention....

I Could Die of Total Barfness (DOTB)

Notboysdotcry431x300 Rachel Maddow replacing Dan Abrams on BSNBC MSNBC effective immediately.  It truly makes me sick that this person, who calls herself a journalist, will be getting her own show.  Her time slot will follow Olbermann's, which means there will be a solid 2 hours of crap on.

Almost immediately, Keith Olbermann took to DailyKos to celebrate the news, brag about his involvement in the decision — "Yes, I had something to do with it," he wrote — and remind readers that though Maddow's rise at the network was quick ("less than five months between first paid appearance and own show"), his was quicker ("I believe I still hold the MSNBC record: I came back to guest host for three days in 2003 and 39 days later I had a contract to do the 8 PM show.").

Disappointment.

Loser The following is a blog entry from TheLeftCoaster, by Steve Soto.  A friend sent me the link and I thought it was a good read.  Although I disagree with Steve that we should still vote for Barack because of the Supreme Court alone, I think he made some interesting points about how Obama has already lost the election.

I told you so.

Other bloggers over the last several days, many of them stalwart Obama supporters who gleefully trashed Clinton while puffing up Obama as the next RFK are now publicly expressing disappointment over Obama's wimpy and almost toothless campaign. Paul Krugman notes that Obama should be mopping the floor with McCain on just the economy, but isn't. Instead, as paradox rightfully notes, Obama spends way too much time trying to appease the wingnut base in a mistaken and in my mind gutless effort. rather than confront McCain, his record, his party's failures, and his smears.

I have been saying for weeks that this campaign is not hitting back, is not running a Tier Two and Truth Squad effort, and is letting McCain define himself as anything but a Republican all while smearing and defining Obama as a treasonous black man. Obama supporters around here are rightfully defending and sticking by their man, using any number of reasons, which is to their credit. Yet they fail to confront the reality that this campaign has lost already even before the convention. Again, it isn't that hard to do: you unleash the Tier Two and Truth Squad effort in June and July to define McCain, defang his arguments before he makes them, so that when he spews his drivel his lines fall flat and are viewed as the flailings of a GOP senator who wants you to look away from his own failings. All while you talk about change and why you are a better choice because you are running against Washington, instead of morphing right before our eyes into a Beltway centrist Trojan Horse for Tom Daschle and Democratic lobbyists who want their piece of the pie.

Disturbing. Very disturbing.

If anyone really needed any more proof that the Democratic leadership wanted Hillary out from the beginning...

Ed Rendell to vote for Hillary at convention

HILLARY, GO NUCLEAR!!!!!!!!!!

I think I need to hear it every day...

I double dare him to pick Sebelius...

Sebeliusobamaendorse3 There is buzz today that Barack Obama might be leaning towards picking Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as his running-mate.  I could die of total barfness (DOTB) if he picks her.  On second thought, I double dare him to do it.  How could anyone in his camp think that would be a good idea?  There are plenty of us Hillary supporters who are still raw, and Obama picking another woman thinking it will appease us is a bad move.  As far as I'm concerned it would rub salt in the wound and fire me up even more.  It might even fire me up enough to jump in the car and head straight to Denver!

McCain Protests NBC Coverage...GOOD FOR HIM

Johnmccain In my wildest dreams I would have never thought I would be applauding the Republican nominee for president.  Anyone who watches cable news has witnessed the biased, partisan coverage on NBC(MSNBC).  Their love-fest with Barack Obama is truly sickening.  Although there is much I disagree with John McCain about, I give him a high-five for standing up to the network and calling them on their ridiculous coverage.

"I Will Win, Don't Worry About That"

Obamagay A confident Barack Obama raised an extraordinary $7.8 million Sunday at three California fundraisers.

I will win. Don’t worry about that,” he said to the crowd of about 1,300 at his third event of the evening, according to the pool report.

He was warmly received by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called him
"a leader that God has blessed us with at this time."

"That's Above My Pay Grade"

McCain Shines at Saddleback Forum

Mccainhero By Michael Gerson

WASHINGTON -- It is now clear why Barack Obama has refused John McCain's offer of joint town hall appearances during the fall campaign. McCain is obviously better at them.

Pastor Rick Warren's Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency -- two hours on Saturday night evenly divided between the relaxed, tieless candidates -- was expected to be a sideshow. McCain and Obama would make their specialized appeals to evangelicals as if they were an interest group such as organized labor or the National Rifle Association. Evangelicals would demonstrate, in turn, that they are not rubes and know-nothings. And Americans would turn en masse to watch the Olympics.

What took place instead under Warren's precise and revealing questioning was the most important event so far of the 2008 campaign -- a performance every voter should seek out on the Internet and watch.

First, the forum previewed the stylistic battle lines of the contest ahead, and it should give Democrats pause. Obama was fluent, cool and cerebral -- the qualities that made Adlai Stevenson interesting but did not make him president. Obama took care to point out that he had once been a professor at the University of Chicago, but that bit of biography was unnecessary. His whole manner smacks of chalkboards and campus ivy. Issues from stem cell research to the nature of evil are weighed, analyzed and explained instead of confronted.

FOR SHAME!!

The more I take a step back and look at these clown democrats in Congress, the more I realize I made the right decision in cutting my ties with the party.

Pelosi should be impeached herself.  If her milquetoast panderings are indicative of what one could expect from Democrats should Obama win, then this country is in a hell of a lot of trouble.

My respect for Joy did go up a notch over this clip:
